Apple CEO Tim Cook:
At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.
Bold move for Apple to make and honest. Although some people really do consider the new Maps an improvement depending on their location. Cook recommends that if you do have problems, try competitors like MapQuest or Waze or even Google.
I was honestly expecting this letter to come out eventually. All the noise over maps is now going to start getting quieter because Apple has acknowledged it and taken action. Some are complaining that Apple didn’t issue an update, but it’s obviously working on that as stated in the letter.
